Luke Moretti Wins NY State Award
June 10, 2009 (Buffalo, NY) – No one investigates like News 4 and few win awards like Investigative Reporter Luke Moretti. The New York State Associated Press Broadcasters Association awarded Moretti First Place for Best Continuing News Coverage for his work on the “Scoby Hill Landslide.”
Luke uncovered shoddy environmental studies and workmanship that will cost New York State taxpayers at least 30 million dollars. Several properties had to be condemned along the Route 219 construction path. These properties were severely damaged when construction caused the land to shift out from under them.
Moretti also won Special Mention for “Scoby Hill” and for work on local dangers still lurking from the "Manhattan Project." Both reports were awarded in the Enterprise Reporting category.
News 4 also won a Special Mention for Best News Special/Documentary for our documentary on Buffalo's waterfront called "In Our Lifetimes" hosted by Rich Newberg.
Also, as his last act as President of the Board of the New York State chapter of the AP Broadcasters Association, WIVB-TV News Director Joe Schlaerth presented student awards in Saratoga Springs.
