Steve Vesey

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Steve joined the News 4 team in May of 2012, moving a few hours up the road from WETM in Elmira.

During his stint in upstate New York, he won the New York State Broadcasters award for Outstanding Sportscast three times – although, he’s just as proud of his victory in Elmira’s “Dancing With Our Stars” competition, when he paired up with his wife, Tiffiny.

The Vesey family welcomed their third child to the planet recently – on Steve’s first day of work at WIVB, no less. Harper, Jaxon, and Hayden now will live a lifetime of people trying to figure out how to pronounce their last name (it’s VEE-see, if you’re scoring at home).

Steve grew up in Ohio, experiencing the ups and (mostly) downs of Cleveland sports. He graduated with honors from Ohio University in 2004 before moving to Elmira a month later.

While in Elmira, he had the chance to cover former Sabres captain Craig Rivet, who played a season with the ECHL’s Elmira Jackals to wrap up his career.

Along with the local sports scene, Buffalo’s wide variety of restaurants were a clear draw for Steve, and he plans on sampling as many of them as is humanly possible.
