LEWISTON, N.Y. (WIVB) - The designer of a new golf course in Niagara County stopped in Friday morning to see how crews are moving along.

Golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr. led the design team for the Seneca Hickory Stick Club in the town of Lewiston. It's one of more than 250 clubs designed by Jones, who has several connections to western New York.

Jones Jr. said, "Pleasant for family reasons because my father grew up in East Rochester and went to Cornell. So, for me coming back here is very personal."

Ralph Chamberlain on the course design and construction team said, "It's looking beautiful. It's growing in very well and we're very pleased as a corporation to see the course come together so well."

The $20 million course is expected to open later this year.
