BUFFALO, N.Y. (RELEASE) - The Family Justice Center will be rolling out the red carpet for the premier western New York playing of Los Lonely Boys’ “Solid Ground,” a new song written about the FJC.
The evening will feature and honor Nancy Ghoston of Kenmore who wrote the lyrics to the song, which Los Lonely Boys plans to market nation-wide.
The Grammy-winning group wrote the song after Ghoston’s poem about the FJC was chosen as winner of the Austin, Texas-based CTK Foundation’s 2009 Heart and Soul Grant Award Program.
The FJC applied for the grant in August, along with 750 other not-for-profit organizations from across the country. The FJC received a $10,000 grant from the CTK Foundation Philanthropic Fund and received the Los Lonely Boys’ song utilizing Ghoston’s selected poem.
Los Lonely Boys’ song “Solid Ground” represents a creative way of getting the message out about the FJC. Ghoston was able to capture the FJC’s mission of hope and healing so eloquently with her poem.
Combining Ghoston’s poem with the music of Los Lonely Boys will help the FJC reach more victims of domestic violence who are in need of the agency’s services.
In addition, Ghoston is to be honored for being chosen by these Grammy-winning musicians as lyricist for their song and in turn, making western New York proud.
