WNYers react to Facebook makeover

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Facebook is rolling out their makeover, but will Facebook users like the changes? Some people say the changes to the news feed will make it look better, but others say it won't help.

Facebook unveiled a revamped version of the site’s news feed feature. The changes are meant to reflect a shift in how we post, more pictures and videos and less text, also images will be larger.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg had said, “Because the news feeds supports such a broad range of content types, as the way that we share, the changes, the composition of news feed naturally changes as well.”

Western New York students are speaking out about the latest changes. Some were pleased with it, since they usually post pictures, they say it is right on target. Some others do not like the idea.

Student Khadejah Millington said, “I don’t like seeing everyone’s picture on my news feed.”

Student Amber Grzechowiak said, “I don’t think it’s a good idea. It’s bad enough that there’s all kinds of ads and stuff that are now entered into it which is annoying, so this is another step in the wrong direction.”

The new changes will also include having multiple news feeds on the front page. There are feeds just for friends, photos, music, and brands you follow.

As Facebook rolls it out, not many Facebook users have seen it yet. Tammy said she got a glimpse, and said it “wasn’t bad.” The change is another alteration that Facebook has made since it launched nine years ago. This one is also aimed at carving out more space to show larger and more dynamic ads within the newsfeed.
