NIAGARA FALLS, NY (WIVB) - The Niagara Falls Medical center is asking the state for permission to permanently take over the medical practice of a doctor was charged last month with illegally distributing prescription drugs.
The hospital filed an application with the Department of Health to permanently take over the practice of Dr. Matthew Bennett. They already are operating a clinic at 624 River Road under emergency approval.
Bennett is accused of issuing prescriptions for Xanax, Clonazepam and Oxymorphone to patients withoug physical exams.
Some of Bennett’s patients are being provided medical care at the hospital’s Summit Family Health Center on Williams Road.
