BATAVIA, NY (WIVB) - Genesee and Orleans County are moving to merge their county health departments.
The counties will share health department services and Paul Petit will serve as health director for both counties.
The deal is all but signed and sealed with the measure expected to be approved by the Genesee County Legislature next week.
The move calls for Petit to be be paid by Orleans County and get reimbursed for a portion of his salary by Genesee County.
The plan is for Orleans and Genesee counties to share more services over time which would of course lead to major cost savings.
