Delaware Park is the first of the Olmsted Parks to offer Wi-Fi service thanks to a $20,000 grant from Verizon.

The Olmsted system is moving into the 21st century with the new Wi-Fi service. People will be able to enjoy the park, bring their computers and connect to the rest of the world.

Maureen Rasp-Glove of Verizon said, "We know they're beuatiful. We know how to continue to make them beautiful and maintain them, But we can also make them smarter. Verizon has the ability to make these parks smarter. With that, bringing broadband, new applications it will help the staff here."

The grant also provides money for the Olmsted Conservancy to train people in the park's Work-fare Program. More than 400 people got so-called "green jobs" at the parks last year.
