WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Michael Jackson's death has prompted many to head out and buy his records.

JL Records in West Lafayette, Indiana had Jackson's music playing throughout the store as a tribute to the pop star.

Owner Jim Pasdach said he was a huge supporter of the King of Pop. His store carries Michael Jackson's CDs, vinyls, and movies, and people are buying them up. The prices on Jackson's music are the same now as they were before his death, and Pasdach said he doesn't think the records will last long.

"We've got one copy left of Thriller," said Pasdach, explaining that he hadn't had a huge amount of stock on hand because of the unexpected nature of Jackson's death.

Customer Harriet Behm said that Jackson's death had spurred her to come to the store to buy the artist's Thriller album.

"It was an album I've always intended to buy but you just get busy and you never get around to it. I think his passing will leave a hole in the entertainment industry. He's definitely an icon and I think it's really sad," said fan Harriet Behm.

Though Jackson's later years were troubled, some say they remember the artist as he was in his early years.

"More of my nostalgia was in his younger years before he went through the transformation of trying to change himself. I think he was such a gifted person. I don't think that he even realized he was a beautiful person," said fan Chris Mowrer.

The store's owner said customers haven't been as upbeat as usual today.

"People are just incredibly sad. A lot of people that are coming in are closer to his age and for them it's what they grew up with," said Pasdach.

Pasdach said he's gotten more than 20 offers for a Michael Jackson stand up poster in his store. He said people have offered him hundreds of dollars, but it isn't for sale.
