ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Rochester family is remembering a soldier who gave his life on the front lines in Iraq.
22 year old, Private First Class Daniel Rivera of Rochester died in a motor vehicle accident while serving in Mosul, Iraq.
Rivera's family members said they had spoken to him just hours before the accident.
His mother said, "This war has to end because their kids. He's 22, he's a kid, literally they're kids dying."
"He decided that's what he wanted to be. He wanted to make a difference and we honor that," explained his aunt.
Rivera's death comes less than a month before he was due back home, to spend time with family over the holidays.
