BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The queen city is helping raise money for the men and women of the Armed Services for when they return home.
On Saturday, the Mental Health Association of Erie County presented, "A Salute to Service - Our Community Cares." Money raised will benefit local vets and their immediate families, with a focus on mental health support.
President and CEO of the Erie County Mental Health Association Thomas McNulty said, "What we often forget, is when our servicemen and women are serving, their family is serving as well, cause they live a life of anxiety, fear, wonder, nightmares, kids have a tough time when mom is deployed, and redeployed, and mental health support is critical during those times."
It's estimated three out of five vets need mental health support when they come home from service.
