KENMORE, N.Y. (WIVB) - They are some of our nation's greatest heroes and now in Kenmore, the Honor Flight Network introduced the group of local World War II veterans who will make the trip of a lifetime next month.

On June 5th, these proud members of "the greatest generation" will fly down to Washington to see the World War II memorial for free.

WWII veteran and Honor Flight recipient James Murdoch said, "I think it's a great thing to do, just for, it's a quick trip, but it's worth it. Most of the fellas can't get around by themselves anymore, so there's help. It's a great thing."

Honor Flight first departed from Buffalo to Washington two years ago. It plans to take more veterans from western New York to the nation’s capital in the near future. To learn more about Honor Flight Buffalo, or to make a donation, log onto honorflightbuffalo.org .
