BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Army's ranks are growing here in Buffalo.

The Buffalo Music Hall of Fame saluted our nation's veterans, and a new class of recruits, on the deck of the USS Little Rock at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval Park. Friends and family looked on as 40 new cadets took the Army's oath.

Cadet Katie Bauman said, "I've wanted to since I was 7, and then I wanted to finish out college and then serve my country."

Maj. Willie Christian said, "This represents some of Buffalo's finest soldiers or civilians who want to become soldiers who are just dedicating themselves to the military and picking up that torch of freedom and carrying it forward."

Many of these cadets will head off to training in just a few days.
