Some true American heroes are celebrating a major milestone.

The Ramada Hotel in Getzville is filled with more than 50 veterans of both World War Two and the Korean War on Sunday.

These men are all members of the Jewish Veterans Association, which is marking its 80th anniversary in Western New York.

World War Two veteran, Harry Meyers said a big reason he joined the group was to dispel a widespread myth.

Meyers said, "I found out in the past few years here that some people are of the belief that Jews never fought in wars or never did anything like that and I said, 'hey wait a second now, Jews actually have been instrumental in wars ever since the Revolutionary War."

The group is also hoping to expand its ranks with veterans from recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
