BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Young western New Yorkers are doing their part to honor the sacrifices of America's fallen service members.

Several youths presented a Memorial Day slide show Saturday morning at the Connecticut Street Armory.

For North Collins 6th grader, Austin Haas, Monday's holiday has a very special meaning.

"It means a lot to me because there are so many veterans out there that are unappreciated for all the hard work that they do to help our country be free. And I felt that they just needed to be recognized, and my cousin's actually in the Marines," Austin remarked.

Austin and his friends were presenting at the kickoff event for a new support group for veterans.
