A correctional officer at the Attica Correctional Facility has been charged with grand larceny and trying to defrauding the state insurance fund.
James S. Gibbs, 33, of Batavia was allegedly caught plowing driveways and sealing parking lots in the City of Batavia while he was collecting full disability compensation fron an on-duty injury.
Gibbs was charged last week with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree insurance fraud, first-degree offering false instruments for filing, all felonies.
The incidents occurred between the winter of 2008 and the summer of 2009.
Department of Corrections spokeswoman Linda Foglia said Gibbs has been a state corrections officer since January 2000 and has worked at the Attica facility since July 2003.
