SEATTLE, WA - Starbucks is in testing mode- using an iPhone application to allow customers to buy their lattes.
Starbucks is currently testing the app at West Coast locations,
where a barcode inside the application, along with a small scanning
function will pay for your Latte or Frappachino.
This is the company’s first venture into iPhone apps,
although it has worked closely with Apple Inc. on making songs
heard in the store available for purchase through iTunes.
The Seattle-based coffee giant said the ideas came from customer feedback and from My Starbucks Idea, an online suggestion box launched last year.
The payment app is being tested in 16 stores in Seattle and the
San Francisco Bay Area.
