BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - From WeatherWatch4 FLOOD WARNING is in effect for portions of Erie, Niagara and Genesee Counties today.
Excessive rainfall, combined with melting snowpack over the weekend, has resulted in flooding on area creeks. A FLOOD WARNING remains in effect for Tonawanda Creek along the Erie/Niagara County border until Wednesday morning. The creek is dropping below flood stage in Genesee County, however lowland flooding will continue around the Alabama Swamps and downstream into northern sections of Newstead, Clarence and Amherst and southern Niagara County.
The creek will crest four feet above flood stage at Rapids around midnight and then begin to recede. Flooding will also impact feeder streams, the Ransom, Mud and Beeman creeks. A FLOOD WARNING on the Ellicott Creek downstream from Williamsville will result in some neighborhood flooding in Tonawanda, along the UB bike path and along Aero Drive. The creek should drop below flood stage later this morning. Lowland flooding will continue along the entire stretch of Black Creek back into Genesee County.
