BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Riccardo McCray pleaded not guilty to four counts of murder Thursday morning. This comes just one day after he turned himself in, at Channel 4 studios.

Riccardo McCray let his lawyers speak for him Thursday morning in court, entering a "not guilty" plea in Buffalo City Court as over a dozen court officers stood by to ensure the safety and security of everyone inside the courtroom.

Some of the shooting victims families were in court as 23-year-old Riccardo McCray was formally charged with second-degree murder.

Inside and outside the courtroom, several court officers stood by. Over a dozen officers stood around McCray as he went before the judge.

McCray turned himself in to Channel 4 Wednesday, with the help of community activist Darnell Jackson.

He is the prime suspect in the City Grill shootings on August 14th.

Thursday, Justice Jeffrey Voelkl ordered McCray to remain behind bars without bail.

Riccardo McCray's Attorney Terrance McKelvey said, "We wanna ensure that there's a level playing field. The police are doing extensive investigations, he needs to bring his side of the story. It's our intention to provide for that."

Riccardo McCray remains behind bars, charged with four counts of second-degree murder. He'll head back to court next Wednesday.
