BUFFALO, N.Y. - The U.S. Census Bureau is soon coming knocking and they need thousands of recruits to help with the daunting task of counting people.

The Buffalo office is planning to screen at least 7,000 applicants between now and late April 2010 for jobs in the City of Buffalo and surrounding suburbs. Anyone interested in signing up for the 30-minute qualifying test can call 1-866-861-2010.

The bulk of the jobs involve going door-to-door to interview people who do not send in their census questionnaire.

The pay for the entry-level field position is $13.50 an hour.
