BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A United flight from Rochester heading to Chicago had to make an unscheduled stop here in Buffalo around 8 a.m.
NFTA spokesman Doug Hartmayer says a water pump caught on fire in a rear bathroom.
A flight attendant extinguished the flames but the airliner had to land because of all the smoke in the cabin.
None of the 127 people on board were injured.
United Airlines is sending another plane so that the passengers can continue to their destination.
