CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Rosa's, the homegrown appliance and furniture store, is expected to file for bankruptcy.

Rosa's Corporate Headquarters isn't commenting on Thursday's expected Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

When News 4 arrived in Cheektowaga, someone pulled the blinds down and locked the door.

Rosa's customer Michelle said, "I'm really surprised, I've been shopping there for years I've gotten quite a bit of stuff there and I didn't know they were gonna do that."

Sources say many employees are not surprised by a filing, because of declining sales and more than a dozen layoffs in the past two months.

Michelle said, "I think it's just lack of of jobs in the area. I think that has a lot to do with it."

Rosa's will be reorganizing and wants to keep the stores open, but it's not clear how long they will be able to.

What happens next depends on how much money the company is losing.

Joe Amoia said, "I feel bad for the employees and what they have to go through, but besides that there's plenty of places to buy furniture."
