BUFFALO, NY (AP) - The Buffalo-based company that makes the on-field caps worn by Major League Baseball players is adding more than 100 jobs as it expands its product line.
Officials at New Era Cap Co. tell The Buffalo News that they'vehired 70 new workers and plan to hire another 70 as the companygears up its menswear and accessories brands.
The company currently employs more than 650 workers in the Buffalo area, about half of them at its cap-making plant in nearby Derby.
In addition to making MLB caps, New Era produces hoodedsweatshirts, jackets and shirts. The newspaper says the company is looking to launch a complete line of wallets, bags, sunglasses,backpacks, watches and other items.
New Era begins supplying NFL players, coaches and fans with official headgear next year.
