NEWFANE, N.Y. Press release - Sheriff James R. Voutour announces the arrest of Newfane High
School teacher, Allan V. Grogan, age 50, of Derby, NY.
The arrest is the result of an investigation by the Niagara
County Sheriff's Office after a complaint was received alleging
that Grogan was having an inappropriate relationship with a student
at Newfane under the age of seventeen.
School staff and administrators were very cooperative and
assisted in the investigation leading to the arrest late Tuesday,
April 21st.
Grogan was charged with Disseminating Indecent Material to
Minors in the First Degree, a "D" felony, two counts of Endangering
the Welfare of a Child, an "A" misdemeanor, and four counts of
Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree, a "B" misdemeanor.
Grogan was brought before a Town of Newfane Justice and bail
was set at $5,000 which he posted at the court. Grogan will return
to Newfane court on May 12th at 5pm for a felony hearing.
Newfane Court also issued a full stay away order of
protection for Grogan to stay away from all Newfane School
facilities and the victim. “Anytime allegations such as these
are brought against a teacher, it is very disturbing. I commend the
administration at Newfane School for moving very quickly and
helping the Sheriff’s Office investigate this case. “
