NIAGARA FALLS, NY (WIVB.com) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection arrested a federal fugitive Tuesday at the Rainbow Bridge.
38-year old Chi Quang Du, is a lawful U.S. permanent resident born in Vietnam. Authorities say Du entered Canada sometime in 1997 as a visitor and remained in the country without legal status until his arrest in Toronto earlier in December. Du was arrested for an immigration violation in Canada.
Canadian authorities notified CBP officers who verified that Du wa sthe target of a U.S. Marshal's felonty wearrant issued on October 29, 1997 in Greene County, Ohio. The warrant charges Du with two conts of aggravated attempted murder. He was featured on the national television program "America's Most Wante" in March, 2008 and was listed on the U.S. Marshals' Service's "Most Wanted" list.
Upon arrest, CBP officers turned Du over to the custody of the Niagara Falls Police Department pending extradition to Ohio.
