RICHLAND, N.Y. - Authorities in a central New York town are expected to release the identities of the eight people from the same family who died in a house fire over the weekend.
The victims, including several children, died after the fire broke out around 2:50 a.m. Sunday at a two-story home in the rural town of Richland, 37 miles north of Syracuse.
Oswego County authorities declined to disclose the victims' names, ages or gender Sunday. That information is expected to be released Monday.
One person escaped the blaze, which had totally engulfed the home by the time firefighters arrived on the scene.
Fire officials say there were no smoke detectors in the home.
Authorities say the fire isn't considered suspicious but the cause
remains under investigation.
