WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) - More than seven months after the Flight 3407 tragedy, Williamsville's Temple Beth Am dedicated a living tribute to Cantor Susan Wehle and the 49 other crash victims.
A new memorial garden was set up at Temple Beth Am in Williamsville.
It's a tribute to every victim of Flight 3407.
"Everyone had some comment, thought, idea and we all came
together," said Michael Millman.
Millman is the chairman of the Cantor Susan Wehle Memorial Committee.
Cantor Wehle was one of the victims in the plane crash.
She leaves behind two sons who could not be at the ceremony.
He said, "We look at how it would represent Susan, the victims and Susan loved the outdoors."
Committee members chose to create a garden in the shape of an infinity symbol.
An autumn blaze maple tree is the centerpiece, similar to the one that survived at the crash scene.
For the past several months, members of Temple Beth Am worked on the project around the clock.
To see it in place brings joy to their hearts as they remember
their good friend and teacher.
Susan Wehle's friend, Sharon Jacobs exclaimed, "She was able
to find good and sweetness and almost purity in everything she was
involved in."
Rabbi Irwin Tanenbaum said, "It's a very emotional time to
remember her, to remember her teachings, to remember something of
her life that she so freely readily shared with all of us."
After Friday night's ceremony, those who attended planted 50 bulbs in honor of the victims.
With the garden, people can come here and reflect upon it and help their own lives and find peace within them," said Millman.
