BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - It's definitely a strange sight this time of year.

Instead of shoveling out, many people are bailing out.

Many Western New Yorkers spent Saturday coping with mother nature's most recent punch.

Signs were everywhere on this mild rainy day in western New York.

Tom Johnson certainly isn't going anywhere. Not only was his road closed, he was trapped. News 4 couldn't even get to Tom, to talk to him about his home being flooded. He says it happened in a just a matter of hours.

Kris Howard, an Elma resident, said "There's actually 3-4 hills that all come into this one exact areas right down here."

It's not nearly as bad, but still frustrating for homeowners just a few miles away. Kris Howard spent the morning uncovering her drainage tiles.

Kris Howard said, "Right now the 2 feet of snow and rain has flooded our backyard to the point that it's unfortunately there's no showers in the Howard home today, because our septic tank is underwater with everything that is now is melted and everything."

It is A lane road on Transit in Elma, but authorities have blocked off three of the lanes here and the heavy flooding have made it impossible for cars to get through.

Some people didn't even chance driving through it.

In Hamburg, many residents of the Brook Garden Mobile Home Park were trapped, they recorded video of the morning flooding.

"It was so flooded it was halfway up to the street sign pole, we could not get out of this park no matter which way we went," said Blanche Lombardo, of Brook Garden Mobile Home Park.

If the water doesn't go down, Sunday is going to be a down day for business for Chuck Sonntag, he parks around 50 cars in his yard for Bills games.

Chuck Sonntag, of Abbot Road, said "I just park them on the lawn all the way back and it's park at your own risk."

Chuck says he's never seen his yard this wet in the 35 years he's lived here.
