BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Some Buffalo homes got a "green" makeover for Earth Day.
Home Depot Foundation presented Americorps with a $60,000 grant
to pay to correct housing code violations and add energy efficient
upgrades to homes in Buffalo Wednesday.
The Green homes initiative moved from Home Depot on Elmwood
Avenue to eight low-income homes on Buffalo's east side.
"These guys are doing an awesome, awesome job and they are incredible. They are truly, genuinely helping here and the atmosphere is really nice and comfortable and they are just beautiful people," said homeowner Barbara Ridgeway.
Americorps volunteers did eight Green Homes projects on this Earth Day, and another 22 will follow this year in Buffalo.
