WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Some western New Yorkers will soon get to vote on whether or not
they want to downsize their local government.
West Seneca and Evans are scheduled to hold downsizing votes
on June 3. Civic Leader Kevin Gaughan has been spearheading the
crusade to reduce local town governments.
He said the taxpayers have a right to be heard, and believes
the upcoming votes are the gateway to better governing.
"These first two votes in West Seneca and Evans will be the
first of 45 votes to come as we go into every town and village, and
let every western New Yorker decide on whether to downsize their
government or perhaps dissolve their village government so they can
increase their voice and change this community," said Gaughan.
Voters will be deciding whether to reduce their town boards
from five members to three.
