Man charged for child sex abuse

RANSOMVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) - On January 22, 2009 the New York State Police in Lockport arrested Franklin D. Schafer, age 49, of  Dickersonville Rd., Ransomville, NY for 2 counts of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, a class A-II felony, Sexual Abuse in the first degree, a class D felony, and 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor.

An investigation revealed that Mr. Schafer had sexual contact with a child less than 11 years old.  The case was presented before the Niagara County Grand Jury that returned a Grand Jury indictment and issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Schafer. Mr. Schafer appeared before County Court Judge Sperrazza on January 23, 2009 and was remanded to Niagara County Jail on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 secured bond.
