CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) - Witnesses said flames shot up as high as 100 feet and could be
seen a mile away, at least. Here are some quotes from witnesses
from the scene in Clarence, New York.
"I pulled up in my truck, right in front of the fire hall. We
see the fire. We were in his room and we heard it."
"Heard the plane come in, real loud, thought it was going
right over my house. We heard it explode and my whole room
shook."
"We look out the window, saw a huge plane, red smoke."
"Thought we'd check it out, it was nuts."
It was the sound of the plane that alerted them, and then
they felt the crash.
Still completely unaware of what happened, the neighbors
rushed to look, expecting anything but what they saw.
They then scrambled out, trying to get close to the scene,
get a grip on what had just happened. They were met with chaos.
News 4 had lots of witnesses e-mail video and pictures as
well as the exchange between air traffic control and other pilots.
