BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Buffalo Police, State Police and an FBI SWAT Team are investigating on Coit Street on Buffalo's east side where a FBI Agent was shot this morning at around 7:30am.

News 4's Tricia Cruz is has learned from neighbors that they woke up, they say, to the sounds of gun fire.

The shooting took place this morning during a series of drug raids on Buffalo's East Side.  Over a dozen arrests have been made in connection with those raids.

The FBI has announced it will host a news conference at 2pm today to announce the dismantleming of a violent, major criminal drug enterprise operating on the East Side of Buffalo.

The FBI Agent who was injured was treated at the scene by an FBI SWAT Medic and then transferred to ECMC where they remain in stable condition.

Laurie Bennett, FBI Special Agent in charge, made a statement from ECMC:

Thursday morning's shooting is a solemn reminder of how difficult the job of a federal agent can be. Former FBI agent and News 4 crime consultant Paul Moskal talks about this morning's events.
