BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Firefighters credit a good samaritan with saving a life after a traffic accident late Thursday in South Buffalo.
The 30 year-old woman was trying to cross South Park Ave. Thursday afternoon when she became pinned between two cars.
She lost her left leg in the accident and is lucky to still be alive thanks to a nearby pedestrian, Edgar King.
"I got out of the car and another man who happened to be walking down the sidewalk, he and I got a tourniquet on her, it cost me a belt, but I don't care. And I got my Swiss Army knife out and punched a hole in the belt and we cinched it down real good and tight. And a Buffalo fireman said that was such a severe injury, that's probably what saved her life," King said.
The victim has been identified as 30 year-old Sarah Gregory of East Amherst. She remains at ECMC in serious conditions after suffering extensive lower body injuries.
No charges have been filed against the driver at this time but the incident remains under investigation by the Buffalo Police Accident Investigation Unit.
