ANGOLA, N.Y. (WIVB) - So what if you had to use a bridge that had pieces falling off it every day?
Or worse yet, what if you had to walk under it?
You have to see it to believe. Pieces of the bridge are literally falling off every time a train rumbles over the top.
Local officials tells us about 40 to 50 trains roll across the
bridge daily.
But here's the problem. The bridge runs across Big Sister
Creek, a popular fishing spot in the summer.
You can see how much the structure has decayed over the
years. There are fairly large pieces already in the water.
Village of Angola officials have been trying to get something
done for years.
News 4 asked, "Would you consider this dangerous to be down here
under this bridge?"
"Yes," answered John Wilson, Angola Village Trustee.
Wilson said, "It's aesthetics that we're concerned about. But the aesthetics can hurt someone also."
"Have you been after CSX for a while?" Asked News 4.
"Yea we have been for quite a few years, and it's time to make this happen," said Howard "Hub" Frawley, Angola Mayor.
Is there a plan to fix it before someone gets hurt?
News 4 will have the latest Thursday at 11.
