BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Advocates for immigrants in western New York held a prayer service Saturday afternoon in Buffalo.
Villa Provincial House on Doat Street hosted the event sponsored by Saint Joseph University Parish.
Promoters of social justice say it's important to consider the people affected by proposed immigration reforms.
"We just need a comprehensive reform which is going to recognize the contributions of immigrants, but also their dignity and the respect with which they should be treated. They should not be herded in with ankle bracelets, and taken off jobs, families should not be broken up," said Gloria McLaughlin, of St. Joseph University Church Social Justice Committee.
McLaughlin says both US Senators Schumer and Gillibrand support the reforms.
