NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. (WIVB) - Niagara County officials are taking action in an effort to ban
texting behind the wheel.
A traffic safety bill, which includes the texting ban, was
approved by the Assembly last week.
However, with continuing chaos in the Senate, it's unclear if it
will ever become law.
So, Niagara County is proposing a $150 fine for texting
violators.
That fine would become null and void the day statewide
legislation goes into effect.
A public hearing is scheduled for July 28th, with a vote
expected later that night.
