BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A local congressman is taking aim at what he sees as wasteful federal spending. Republican Congressman Chris Lee held a press conference Monday morning to say if he had a red flag, he'd be waving it about all the red ink in the President's proposed $3.5 trillion budget.
This comes just days after the House passed a $400 billion appropriations bill, on top of the President's $800 billion economic stimulus package.
Lee also presented a chart showing that according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, budget deficits over the next ten years will dwarf those of the Bush administration.
"I for one, as someone speaking very loudly on the house floor, as often as I can get up there, on fiscal responsibility. Because I've got a three year old son and our children and grandchildren will be paying back this enormous debt if we don't do something about it," said Rep. Chris Lee.
Congressman Lee also introduced a new page on his website called " Washington Waste Watch " where every week he'll highlight one area where your tax dollars are being spent, or mis-spent.
