TOWN OF ELBA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Three bank robbery suspects who triggered a major manhunt Thursday in Genesee County faced a judge Thursday night in Elba Town Court.
26-year-old Dennis Abrams,25-year-old Demone Dillon and 24-year-old Michael Wells, all of Buffalo, faced arraignment on charges of first-degree robbery. They are being held without bail. They're accused of taking nearly $10,000 from a M&T Bank in Elba.
Sheriff Gary Maha says the men robbed the bank branch at 7133 Oak Orchard Road just before 10am Thursday morning.
A witness gave police a description of the suspected getaway vehicle, a black sport utility vehicle, which helped police track down the suspects.
Police took no chances while searching for the suspects. They locked down all schools in the area and conducted a house-to-house search.
All three were in custody about six hours after the robbery without incident.
Police recovered one handgun from one of the suspects. A second gun that was discovered with money from the bank turned out to be fake.
