BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Only 2 days remain until Tax Day, and last minute filers might run into some unexpected complications this year.

The countdown is on. Tax filers have just two days left to get those state and federal tax returns in.

The folks at the IRS are offering assistance to those who have questions about filing. They'll even prepare your returns for you for free if you make under $42,000 dollars a year.

"We'll prepare the federal tax return for them but they have to remember to bring a picture ID, Social Security card and anyone they claim as dependents and if it's a married couple, both spouses must be present," said IRS Territory Manager, Rick Pearl.

Dominique Shelton came in to use the IRS computer filing program .

"It's easy with the program they have because they let you follow step by step and it's relatively easy to do," Shelton said.

According to the Internal Revenue Service , more than half of filers are doing it on-line now, so the US Postal Service is changing with the times, and forgoing all those late night hours on tax day.

Karen Mazurkiewicz of the U.S. Postal Service said, "Our Cayuga branch is going to be the only branch that is going to be selling postage and also doing postmarks right through midnight."

But you can go to the William Street post office until midnight, if you don't need that postage on Wednesday.

If you'll be putting your tax returns in one of these blue collection boxes, make sure you take a look at the last collection time or else it'll get marked on April 16th.

So don't wait! And if you need help...
"Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we'll be open to the public from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m," said Pearl.
