NEWFANE, N.Y. (WIVB) - It may be the store many people in Niagara County have been waiting for, to save money when it comes to putting food on the table.
Saturday, News 4 headed to Budwey's.
"It's a happy, happy Father's Day," said Frank Budwey, the store's owner.
The ribbon was cut and the rush was on. Shoppers in Newfane grabbed shopping carts and headed inside Niagara County's newest supermarket, Budwey's.
The owner tells News 4, the price tag to rehab the once vacant building was $2 million.
"We ended up buying four walls and a parking lot. And we revamped the entire store outside and inside," Budwey explained.
Shoppers wasted no time getting their groceries and checking out everything inside the store.
Budwey's third location in western New York employs 95 people.
The owner believes the price is right for consumers.
"There really is a void for a store that gives low low meat prices and low perishable prices on deli and produce items," Budwey said.
Cathy Kern has a store much closer to her home in North Tonawanda. However she made the trip to Newfane to show her support for a man she says is saving her money on her grocery bill.
"It's the type of store people want to come in and do their shopping quickly, without having to walk a mile in the parking lot or a mile in the store to find an item," said shopper Cathy Kern.
With many shopping options, it's all about what the store means for your wallet.
"The prices are lower," said Kern.
