ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - News 4 is following a developing story from Orchard Park. Police want to know who shot an Amherst woman in the head.

The victim is Angela Moss, a Licensed Practical Nurse from Amherst, who graduated from Bennett High School, spent a couple years in the Army and then attended Villa Maria College.

It was about 6:15 Friday morning when someone spotted her body in the grass along California Road near Duerr Road in Orchard Park.

Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz said, "She was a 39-year-old black female. Her name was Angela Moss. Her parents have been notified. It appears as though she died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Moss worked at Absolut Care, a nursing home just a quarter mile from where she was found. A co-worker says she had left work at eleven o'clock Thursday night. Her car was found along the side of California Road, but it was pointing back toward the nursing home she had left.

Nearby resident Bill Hoch said, "It was actually pointing towards the nursing home, but the body was probably 100 yards down the road away from the car. Behind it."

Police won't say whether they have found a gun. None of the neighbors News 4 spoke with heard a gunshot.

Hoch said, "It's just been a real quiet neighborhood, everybody watches out for each other. When something like this happens, we're all blown away that nobody caught it."

All day and night the road was closed, as the ATF, State Police, and Erie County Sheriff's Office helped look for evidence.

Chief Benz said, "County Highway is down there with a brush hog that is clearing some of the brush out so we can see if there is any evidence down there."

Hoch said, "I got kids that are afraid, a wife that's afraid, and I'm a little nervous myself."

Moss lived in Amherst.

Her employer, Absolut Care of Orchard Park has no comment at this time.

Her family tells News 4 Angela worked for Absolut Care for about three years. Orchard Park Police are not commenting on any possible suspects in the case.
