BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - It's a college campus invasion as freshmen embark on a new life away from home.

First time freshmen moved into Buffalo State College on Tuesday. Reinaldo Glaze drove up with his son, Omar, from Long Island to send him off into the wonderful world of college.

"First day. A little hectic, but it's pretty much organized," said Reinaldo.

VP Enrollment Management at Buffalo State Mark Petrie said, "Well, we have another banner year this year at Buffalo State. We're expecting around 11,800 students, which is about 100 over last year."

Move in day can be a lot of work, but these family's are getting a helping hand from people like Justin.

"We do our best to sort of assist any students and parents who need it. Sheer volumes along it's sort of hard to help everyone, but if you need help carrying your fridge in, we're welcoming to do that," said Justin Wojcik.

Before you know it, students will be kicking back in this new residence hall.

"It will be open for the spring semester. About 200 of the 550 beds, the remaining 300 will be open in the fall 2011. We've got a new technology building and math and science building. Very exciting for the school," said Petrie.

That's all part of the college's $350 million improvement plan.
