BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A person of interest in the City Grill shootings turned himself in right here at Channel 4.
Riccardo McCray was concerned for his own safety. He was brought to Channel 4 and voluntarily surrendered himself to Buffalo Police. He told News 4 that he was not the shooter outside the City Grill and said he believes there were multiple shooters. Here is how the day's event unfolded from the moment he arrived at Channel 4 to the moment he was taken into custody.
Riccardo McCray, whose face we have been asked by authorities not to show, was brought here to Channel 4 by community activist Darnell Jackson and Bishop Perry Davis from the Stop the Violence Foundation.
Jackson said, "I was contacted by his family last night and they was concerned about his well-being. He didn't trust nobody but me and I agreed to have himself turned into me and I was negotiating with you all through the picture about what was going on. Me and you have been talking."
The purpose was for McCray, the key person of interest in the shootings outside the City Grill, to turn himself peacefully over to the Buffalo Police. McCray, the father of 1-year-old boy, told News 4 he had learned he was a person of interest in the shootings just three days ago, and claims to have been in Buffalo the whole time since the shootings occurred.

When asked what his concerns were, McCray responded, "The police. Why are they going like this towards me? Everybody is human, ya know what I mean? 'Cause there's a side to everything. Why are the police going the way goin' towards me? That's all I want to know."
McCray answered our questions about what happened that early Saturday morning outside the City Grill in downtown Buffalo.
McCray described, "It was fight, then the next thing you know, shots rang. Get low, hit the ground, that's all I can recall that night."
McCray told News 4 he went to school with one of the victims, William McCaa.
"He always come to my house and everything. If I knew what caused the shooter, I'd tell you. That's why I come down here because they said they looking for me and that's what I'm coming down here to explain. I don't know that night what happened. Like I told you, if I knew I would tell you," said McCray.
Police arrived at Channel 4 to take McCray in for questioning. McCray's attorney had not yet arrived.
Jackson said, "Wait until his lawyer comes. Lawyer will be here in two minutes."
A police officer responded, "He'll meet us downtown. Get out of my way or I'll arrest ya. Out of my way!"
McCray was then handcuffed and taken to Buffalo Police Headquarters. McCray tells News 4 he was in Buffalo when he learned from a cousin he was wanted for questioning.
