BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A group of local clergy leaders say the community needs a voice in development decisions at Buffalo's waterfront.

Buffalo pastors joined the Canal Side Community Alliance on the steps of City Hall on Monday to call for a Community Benefit Agreement. They're asking the Common Council to stand by their resolution that the agreement must be negotiated for and land transfer to go through.

Msgr. David Gallivan of Holy Cross Church said, "Certainly, a major redistribution of the people's land and financial resources begs a wider consultation with those affected. And that includes all of the people of Buffalo."

The canalside development will be paid for in part by $154 million in taxpayer funds, not including tax breaks for retailers.
