BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - If the Sabres wanted to impress their new owner, they did a great job. The team ended their three game losing streak at home.
The crowd began chanting Terry Pegula's name even before he stepped out onto the ice to a standing ovation, Wednesday night.
He nearly fell over in surprise when he saw the Sabres legendary French Connection skate over to join him, including his hero Gil Perrault.
>> At a press conference earlier this week, Pegula became emotional talking about Perrault
Sabres fan Greg White said, "That was really unbelievable in there. Especially having the French Connection back in town, it was just something to see."
Signs all over the arena showed off fans' support for the new owner.
>> Sabres fans are excited about Pegula's passion for the team
Fan Mike Klimczak said, "In Pegula we trust. I mean, you saw the sign, it was up on the wall. I mean, I think we've all got high hopes for the owner. I think we're expecting a lot."
"I'm not expecting anything to change overnight. We're not going to get a Stanley Cup this year probably. It's not a bad thing by any means," said Sabres fan Tom Farr.
