BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Horse-drawn carriage rides are a tradition in many cities, and now Buffalo is getting in on the four-legged fun.
Organizers tout it as a way to see Buffalo the way it was seen more than a century ago. Starting this Sunday, horse-drawn carriages will return to the queen city.
The Olmsted Parks Conservancy made the announcement Wednesday morning in Delaware Park. Carriages will tour the park from 1 to 5 on Sunday afternoons, along with Lincoln and Bidwell Parkways and Soldiers and Gates Circles.
Each buggy can fit up to four people inside, with tours starting at $25. It's part of a drive by Olmsted officials to restore Delaware Park's "historical integrity" from the turn of the 20th century.
Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy President/CEO Thomas Herrera said, "The Olmsted Parks are 148-years-old and the whole park system was designed with carriage rides in mind, and so we are inviting you to come out and enjoy a step back in history."
Olmsted officials also announced that boating on Delaware Park's Hoyt Lake will now be open daily from 11 to 7.
