BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A generous local mother is helping equip local students for success this school year.
We found Esthlia Hunt at the corner of East Utica and Jefferson handing out school supplies for free. We're told Time Warner donated some pens and pencils, but she bought backpacks and other supplies with her own money.
Esthlia Hunt said, "Well, my thought is, there are kids that are not going to have a bookbag for the first day of school. So I wanted to be able to give to someone that might not necessarily be able to get it by themselves. This is where I grew up at. And there are a lot of kids that just don't have, and they will start out the first day of school without, and I didn't want that. It may not be a lot, but it's a lot to me."
The backpacks also included cereal to give kids a snack for their first day.
