BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - There's a new interactive way to enjoy the Buffalo Zoo, all from the palm of your hand.
Zoo lovers can now find all the latest information on their iPhones or Android phones. The "Buffalo Zoo application" gives users access to lots of useful information right on their phones, such as animal exhibits, event schedules, wildlife conservation tips, and the history of the zoo.
The app comes in six languages so it can welcome visitors from all over the world. It also has built-in GPS technology, meaning it can become a personal tour guide during your visit.
Buffalo Zoo President and CEO Dr. Donna Fernandes said, "All of our exhibits are denoted on an interactive map with pins, and as you approach each exhibit you can find out information about the animals."
Erie County Executive Chris Collins said, "We always like to be the first, and to know that we're the first zoo in the United States with this app, we love being on the cutting edge."
The Buffalo Zoo application is free to download. For 99 cents you can upgrade to the premium version, which has additional features such as "keeper chats" with animal keepers from each area of the zoo.
