BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The jury took around two and a half hours to deliver a verdict. Luke Wright is guilty on all counts in the incestuous rape, sexual assault and torture of his disabled half-sister, Laura Cummings.
The jury could have found Luke Wright guilty but not criminally responsible for the atrocities he committed against Laura Cummings, but instead, they found him guilty on all counts.
Assistant District Attorney Kristin St. Mary said, "This is why we do this job, to speak for someone who can't speak now. And really, during her life, was not able to speak either. This was the first time that Laura got to tell her story."

St. Mary said it was tough prosecuting Wright for raping, sodomizing, and torturing his half-sister, Laura Cummings. Investigators and prosecutors called this one of the most brutal cases they've ever seen.
Assistant District Attorney Thomas Finnerty said, "There were seven different statements, and I got about halfway through the second statement and I had to get up, close the door in my office, and I just started crying."
Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita said, "You usually don't see that, especially with very experienced prosecutors. So we knew we were dealing with a case of completely different character here."
But the two and a half hour verdict did come as a surprise to many who followed this case.
Alternate juror Anthony Farace said, "Yeah, I was surprised. I talked to a couple of the jury members afterwards, and there were a couple of people who had some uncertainties that with a little clarification, it was clarified after they were brought back in. And that was it."
And now that the case is over, there is relief.
Finnerty said, "This poor girl was physically tied to a chair day in, night out for Lord knows how long, subjected to every form of physical and sexual abuse that one could imagine."
"Sadism and depravity, and the way this incredibly vulnerable girl was treated by her own family," said Sedita.
Judge Michael D'Amico has set May 24th as the sentencing date for Luke Wright, who will more than likely spend the rest of his life in prison.
